PLF members and others are increasingly making memorial contributions in the name of the deceased to honor the past work and dedication which that member had displayed in the management of BLM Public lands. Acknowledgment cards are sent to the families recognizing such donations.

PLF Establishes a Memorial Fund for Harold Lynd, well known BLM forester and PLF member Harold Lynd, BLM O & C Forester, National Chief of Forestry, and Assoc. State Director, Montana, upon retirement, passed away on September l, 2002, at Fort Collins, CO. His wife, Marge, informs us that that the Public Lands Foundation was very important and dear to his heart, and suggested that a memorial be established through PLF. Thus a Memorial Foundation is hereby established in his name,and supporters who may wish to contribute may do so by sending their contributions to P.O. Box 726, Arlington, VA 22207. The PLF plans to devote the contributions to the acquisition and maintenance of historical information related to BLM lands at the PLF National Archives in Phoenix, AZ. Emphasis may be given to the forestry aspects around which much of his career years were placed.

The family of Joe T. Fallini would like to encourage contributions to The Joe T. Fallini Memorial Fund, c/o Jan Taylor, Administrative Assistant, Bureau of Land Management, 50 Hwy. 93 South, ;Salmon, Idaho 83467. This fund will help maintain and improve the Joe T. Fallini Campground at the Mackay Reservoir at Mackay, Idaho.

To the friends of George Ramey - George, who recently retired from BLM, passed away on July 6, 2001 in Stansbury Park, Utah. He had been struggling with health problems following cancer treatment late last year. George had most recently served as the Senior Rangeland Management Specialist at the Utah State Office. He began his career with BLM in 1962 on the Winnemucca, Nevada District. He served in several positions in the Elko District, as State Range Management Specialist in the Arizona State Office and later in the BLM Washington Office. George was instrumental in improving rangeland management in all field areas where he worked. He influenced the national range program in several areas, including development of Range Improvement Project System, development of the Comb Wash Policy, participation in bringing about Range Reform, and he worked endless hours in providing guidance and assistence in the the intensive grazing permit renewal effort. Cards and correspondence can be sent to George's wife, Marla, at 854 Country Club, Stansbury Park, Utah 84074. The family asks that any donations in George's memory by made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah, 2000 Circle of Hope, Salt Lake City, UT 84112 - 5550, attention Heidi Sheridan.
